The Blind Wolf's Tavern

Some say that the tavern has been around as long as Lenori has, and that it has been cursed by misfortune from the very start. Supposedly, not a single owner has been able to run it without it ending in ruin or foul death sooner or later. Superstition, many say, but the last few owners certainly haven't been able to break that trend.

The surrounding area v.1. vs. The surrounding area (Twilight Hour, 2008)

No one can claim that the southerners that now own The Blind Wolf haven't tried to run the tavern as best they can - ruining themselves in the process. Despite their delicious food and tasteful entertainment the Lenorians haven't quite warmed up, still being sceptical towards anything from the south. So now they are in the desperate situation of having to find more financing or sell altogether.

Staff worth mentioning:

Faramès of Rak al Hina (Hinean) - Owner
An extremely hospitable and welcoming man with impeccable morals - sometimes to his own detriment. He is keen to make anyone and everyone feel at home, but those that come to the Blind Wolf to conduct shady business or don't respect the fine etablishment are quickly sent packing.

Peren/nya () - Second in command
Many say that the Blind Wolf probably would have gone under much quicker if it wasn't for them. Whereas the owner is extremely set on running an honorable and clean business Peren/nya puts more value in actually trying to run a functionable business - all too aware that the way they do things back home won't necessarily work in Lenori.

Ulmila (Ulavi) - Chef extraordinare
A veteran of many travels and a culinary scholar. If only the Lenorians actually undestood and appreciated the quality of cookery was actually on offer at the tavern the establishment's fate would look much different. A kind and warm-hearted woman who can turn into a harsh disciplinarian in the blink of an eye should her kitchen be disrespected.

Vorenzo (Fal Narni) - Waiter
Most people from Fal Narn (who have a choice, that is) would never even consider leaving their lush, colorful nation for the north, which says a lot about Vorenzo to begin with. Though he certainly retains a lot of the flair of his home country, he relishes spending time with visitors, absorbing their stories and tales like a sponge.

After the war all the Rakkhari constructions and decorations were torn down. But the new owners didn't invest in making the place look nicer, so the tavern was in a rather shabby condition under the new owner who didn't seem to put much effort into the business overall. In the end, the staff were arrested for smuggling goods and lost ownership of the tavern.

Staff worth mentioning:

Renovan (Lenorian) - Owner
A rather brusque and unpleasant man, who was seldom seen in the tavern and when the times you saw him he was mostly hounding the workers.

Ileneva (Lenorian) – Entertainer(?)
A woman that no one was completely sure whether she worked for the tavern or if she simple didn't have anywhere better to be. A skilled gambler (even if many were sure that she cheated) and many said she was open to "intimate business" - at least if you managed to win against her. At least she had more stories to tell than a salt marinated colony captain.

Leren “The Wolverine” (Lenorian) - “Worker” and troublemaker
The brains in an infamous duo that seemed to like harassing visitors. Exactly why they were hired was something that many questioned, since they seemed to spend most of their time guarding the place with foul gazes, and saw to it that no one spent more time in the tavern than they paid for - roughyl if necessary.

Andorev “The Bull” (Lenorian) - “Worker” and troublemaker
The second half of the infamous duo. Just as nasty as his brother, but even more moody. Seemed to like "dealing" with people who had drunk a bit more than they could handle.

Kaela (Seran) - Waitress
Overworked and increasingly cynical after the war, but still trying to do her job as best she can.

/ / / Year 384-387 / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / /
During the war years the tavern was rebuilt and got an extension to be able to house soliers in a small barrack. Beyond this, guests were received as in any other tavern (though more along Rakkhari customs), though many found it hard to relax around so many Rakkhari soldiers. The owners were driven off with force after the war between Lenori and the Rakkhari Commonwealth ended.

Staff worth mentioning:

Vereno & Bari (Rakkhari) - Owners
A couple of owners who tried to be extra welcoming to non-Rakkhari visitors, even if they made sure to prioritize the Crusade's needs. Few had anything negative to say about them, but most could not get over the fact that they too were part of the invading nation.

High Guard Teros Voren (Rakkhari) – Rakkhari officer
A sharp and extremely polite man who nonetheless gave most non-Rakkhari the shivers. Enjoyed talking with guests at every opportunity – and most didn't dare refuse.

Berohil (Ulavi) – Songsmith
Smith and craftsman who cared for the Rakkhari troops' equipment. One of the mythical Ulavi songsmiths, whose powers and abilities to work metal gave birth to formidable weapons. Also a hell of a singer.

Rhiola (Dalarian) – Rakkhari soldier
A Rakkhari soldier who became infamous due to her cold aura and the fact that she was only ever seen when captives were transported via the tavern. It didn't help that many of the Rakkhari soldiers seemed to avoid her as much as possible...

/ / / Year 380-384 / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / /
During the years before the war the tavern did relatively well - and many might have embellished memories of how good things were there before the invasion. Though the tavern did not serve the best food, the entertainment (both the public and the more "private") was something special that served to draw people in. At the start of the second invasion the tavern was abandoned and almost burnt down as the people fled.

Staff worth mentioning:

Rammort (Lenorian) - Owner
A somewhat moody and greedy man who nonetheless could speak with a sharp silver tongue. Constantly wore an eyepatch but refused to tell why – which gave birth to many dark and funny rumors among the visitors.

Kaela (Seran) – Waitress
A hard-working young woman who just tried to make it through each day, but had an unfortunate tendency to get involved with the wrong people.

Gopran (Mountainborn) – Jack-of-all-trades and bouncer
A silent but kind man who rather worked than spoke with visitors. Unless there was talk of politics or the Duke's men – then you couldn't shut him up.

Anemmari (Javenian) – Dancer/entertainer
An extravagant and colorful young man whose dancing was widely talked about – and not just because Javenians were extremely rare at that time. Competed with Eiris for “special clients”.

Eiris (Lenorian) – Entertainer
En extravagant och färgstark ung man vars danser var vida omtalade – och inte bara för att Javenner var extremt sällsynta på den tiden. Tävlade med Eiris om kunder.

After the tavern had been repaired it was run by a close ally of the Duke of Kern. Many speak of this time as the golden era of the tavern, with food and drink that had no equal in Lenori. Those years did not last long however, as the owner died in an accident and the tavern was sold once again.

Staff worth mentioning:

Anyeva (Lenorian) - Owner
A warm and welcoming woman who had a sharp sense for both business and people. She could make anyone feel at home in the tavern, though many wondered if she could really be making a profit.

Leyvan (Lenorian) – Hunter
The tavern jack-of-all-trades who supplied the establishment with fresh, fine meat but also won and broke hundreds of hearts during his years at the tavern.

Ahmi (Mountainborn) – Waitress and entertainer
One of the foremost singers Lenori has ever seen, according to many. Even her wordless Mountainborn songs made eyes well up and even the most hardened heart melt.

/ / / Year 366-374 / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / /
During several years the tavern was relatively successful. It was, perhaps, not very luxurious but it was still a dear place to the workers in the area. As the years passed the worker became almost like a different person, and as he changed the business decayed, until one day a big fire killed both the owner as well as several workers.

Staff worth mentioning:

Dervon (Lenorian) - Owner
A pleasant older man with a widely known humor (that even made the old-timers from the forest blush). He was the largest reason people kept returning, so when he became more and more reclusive and almost aggressive it was him that people mourned rather than the tavern.

Elosea (Seran) – Waitress and actress
A young Seran woman, somewhat out of place, who desperately tried to make the Lenorians see the beauty in Seran poetry and theatre. She had scores of admirers, but her heart belonged to the arts.

Medorev (Lenorian) – Life sorceror and chef
Somewhat of a strange man who, for some reason, had chosen not to develop his sorcery fully. But his healing powers made enough of a difference in the tavern coffers to outweigh his rather ho-hum food.

Before the year 366 history is more blurry, which is why you can be a bit more liberal with details if you want to write in those times.
